The
Area Career and Technical Center was established in 1972 to provide Professional and
Technical Course offerings to high school students in Pope, Yell, and
Johnson counties.
Mr.
Bill Lewis was the founding director and established a tradition of
excellence that continues today. The concept is to provide the
opportunity for students to select from a broader range of professional
and technical courses than would otherwise not be available.
The
Area Career and Technical Center is an extension of the participating area high
school curriculum. The director and staff work closely with the
administrators and counselors so that the learning experience here
becomes an integral part of the student’s total high school program.
The
Center currently enrolls over 600 high school students annually.
Courses taken at the Area Career and Technical Center count for full academic credit
at the participating area schools. |
